With these late rains, we can finally dig the last of the potatoes, about 300 row feet of Pontiacs, Yukon Golds, and Kennebecs.  Despite the invasion of weeds that moved in when the potato plants stopped growing in July, the crop is good, and we’ll be hard pressed to get it all in the root cellar and still leave room for the mangel-wurzels.  It is a good feeling to have a year’s worth of food put down safely!  And it means we’re always ready for visitors —
