In illustration of the last post, we offer our potato harvest 2020:  a meager 800 lb or so.  Lots of very small potatoes, but lots of plants with no potatoes at all.  Enough to get us through the winter, but not the 2,000 lbs. we often see.

On the credit side of the ledger, the squash harvest looks like being pretty enormous, and the mangels, while not so large, are many, so we won’t starve, and neither will the pigs.

Drought still reigns in our area despite a good rain at the beginning of this month.  How can we tell?  Well, all our streams are still just trickles, so the soil hasn’t recharged its reservoirs yet.  Also, there are many places on the farm where you have to try half a dozen places before you can set a step-in post.
